The University of Rwanda (UR) is a public higher education institution established in 2013 through the merger of 14 institutions, forming a unified, research-led university aligned with national development goals. Organized under a collegiate model, UR comprises seven colleges covering areas such as science and technology, health, agriculture, business, education, and social sciences. The university plays a central role in advancing knowledge and innovation, with strong engagement in research addressing societal challenges including public health, climate change, and digital transformation. Through international collaboration and its Centers of Excellence, UR contributes to capacity building and sustainable development.
